These shoes are made for walking #1

Hi guys!

I am so sorry that you had to wait so long for a new post, but things have been a little bit stressful lately. I had to study a lot and every time I had a little bit time to blog or shoot some pictures the weather or the light weren't good. But here I am again! One of my close friends asked me to do a post about my shoes and I thought "why not?". I have a lot of shoes, but I never saw myself as a shoeaholic until a couple months ago when I realized that I really was one. I am going to show you my shoes, not only my favorites but also shoes I don't wear that often (which doesn't mean I don't love them, I love all my shoes!). I am going to start of with showing you my sneakers, boots and other flats. My heels and summer shoes will be presented in following posts.

Converse Chuck Taylor Classic Colors 36€ / 50$

My Converse are definitely on my top 5 list. They are so comfortable and fashionable at the same time. You can wear them with everything! Jeans, leggings, shorts, dresses and skirts. I think everyone should own at least a pair of Converse, doesn't matter in what color or if low or high ones.

Vans Authentic Lo-Pro  35€ / 48$
Also on my top 5 lists are my Vans. I got them in January and have worn them as much as possible as it got warmer. They are super comfortable and like my Converse you can combine them with so many things! I like them best in white, simply because I find them especially cute in that color.

Bianco short riding boots

Another favorite of mine and probably my most worn shoes are my Bianco boots. They are so stylish and comfy, I can wear them all day long and my feed won't hurt. I like to wear them with jeans (doesn't matter which top I combine) or leggings with over-size shirts.

Nike Vortex 90€ / 124$

Of course my top 5 lists can't miss a pair of Nike sneakers! These are my favorite Nike shoes. They are called Nike Vortex and I love them. They are super stylish and very comfortable. Sadly mine seem to be sold out everywhere, but you can get them in a lot of different colors and designs. I will probably get another pair in the future.

Buffalo Ankle boots 99€ / 136$

My Buffalo boots are my all time favorite "higher" shoes. They are so comfortable, the only shoes that can compete with them are one of my Kurt Geiger pairs. Those boots are of such a good quality. They are perfect. I love to wear them, doesn't matter if it is in the evening or when I go shopping. I like to wear them with jeans, leggings or dresses - they are just great to combine with. I've bought them a few years ago, but you should check out Buffalo stores or the homepage to get similar ones if you're interested.

Nike Free 80€ / 110$

Nike Running shoe 60$

What I love about my Nike shoes is simply that they are stylish and comfortable at the same time. Comfort is most important for me when I buy new shoes. I like how colorful my sneakers are and I love to wear them with simply colors like black, white and grey. I also wear the purple ones sometimes when I go to the gym, which is also super comfortable. Those shoes survived me and my friends climbing up a glacier in Norway, meaning the quality is pretty good!

Sperry Billfish Alternative Closure Boat Shoe

I bought those Sperry's last summer in the boy kids section (I have really small feet) because I liked them so much and if you ask me they don't look like typical man shoes at all - more like unisex shoes. I don't think they sell mine anymore, but I found similar shoes here. Like most my other shoes they are really comfortable and I like to wear them with jeans, leggings and shorts. They don't make your feet sweaty when you wear them during the summer, which is also a positive thing. I can't wear to wear those stylish babies more this summer.

American Eagle lined ballerinas

I bought those beautiful ballerinas when I stayed at my friends house over Christmas 2010 at American Eagle. Since then I have worn them every single winter and though they're slowly a little worn out they still keep my feet warm in the winter - believe it or not. I definitely need to get a new pair this winter!

EMU boots 159€ / 215$

Dr. Martens winter boots 149€ / 205$

I got my EMU boots in around winter 2010 and my Dr. Martens winter boots in October 2013 and I love them both a lot. Like my American Eagle flats my EMU boots are pretty worn out, but they are so, so comfortable and my feet feel like they're in heaven when I wear them. I never got cold while wearing them and the EMU boots are a nice, little cheaper, version of UGG boots.
I like my Dr. Martens boots a lot because they are not only lined, which means I could wear them all the time in winter no matter how cold it was, but also super stylish. I think at the moment you can't get them lined, but I found an unlined version here.

H&M ankle boots 39€ / 53$

My H&M ankle boots are from last season and though I don't wear them that much I like them a lot. I get complimented on them every time I wear them out for drinks or dinner and I like to combine them with my Mulberry or Louis Vuitton bag. They are pretty classy, that's why I like to wear them with high-waisted black jeans and a chic shirt. They are comfortable, but after a while your feet kind of start hurting a little bit. You can get similar ones from this season here.

Buffalo ankle boots 99€ / 136$

Last but not least my second pair of Buffalo boots! Just like my other Buffalo's this ones are super comfortable and great to wear at any time a day. I like them especially because they look so different to normal ankle boots. The leather of the top half of the shoe looks like it protrudes which I find pretty cool. I can highly recommend Buffalo, just as Kurt Geiger, for sure!

The other day I edited some of my older posts and linked most of the outfits or products for you to pages for you can find them or similar ones, in case you really like something I present and you'd like to get it as well. I will do that from now on to make it easier for you guys. Sometimes I can't find even similar ones simply because the product might be a little bit older or it's not getting produced anymore.

I hope you liked this post and some of my shoes. Hopefully you are already excited for the next (shoe)post. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me via e-mail germerican-lj@gmx.de or on Twitter.

You had me at pasta

Love goes through the stomach. I don't think that I have ever met a person that doesn't like pasta. Personally, pasta (especially spaghetti) is one of my favorite food. You can eat with so many different sauces and spice and cheese, what's there not to like? I am not a big fan of tomato sauce, that's why I like to try out new pasta sauces and recipes. Today I would like to show you how to make my (currently) pasta favorite.
It's kind of a pasta olio, but without garlic and pepperoni.

Ingredients
Pasta (spaghetti, penne or fussili), I always use normal or wholemeal spaghetti
Tomatoes
Olive oil
Pepper
Salt
Garlic salt (you can as well use actual garlic instead)

pepper, salt, garlic salt, olive oil & wholemeal spaghetti
First of all you cook the pasta like you always do and while you're waiting for your pasta to be done you start cutting the tomatos.

Cut the tomatoes in small pieces, so you can better stir them around the pasta once you put them into a pan later.

cut tomatoes & cooking spaghetti
As soon as the pasta is "al dente" you take the olive oil and put some in a pan. Then you take the finished noodles and put as many as you want into the pan as well and put the tomatoes and a little bit of the spice on top.

the pan before & after putting the ingredients in
When you're done putting all the ingredients into the pan you turn the heat of the cooking plate/ hot plate on a low heat and stir everything around for a couple of minutes.

Just make sure you don't burn the pasta or the tomatoes.

Voila!

you can also put a little bit of parmesan cheese on top
You see, cooking this doesn't take much longer than 15 minutes and it is sooo delicious! I could eat it all the time. If you re-cook this, let me know how it worked for you and if you liked it. Also, I want to know what is YOUR favorite kind of pasta or food in general?

I hope you like this post and if you have any questions or suggestions please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail to germerican-lj@gmx.de or send my a tweet to germerican_lj

Tanya Burr & Real Techniques

The sun is up! Finally the temperatures are rising and during the past 4 or 5 days it was about 16-20°C / 60-68°F outside and even warmer in the sun. I can lay outside on my front porch in shorts and a shirt/top and it's only March! How cool is that? I am definitely enjoying the spring and I really hope that the temperatures are not sinking again. Some people are even talking about us having snow in April, all I can say to that is PLEASE NOT:(.
I can't wait to go outside in sandals, Birkenstock flats, dresses, skirts and shorts and blog about my favorite spring/summer outfits! Of course I will be going shopping once or twice to get some new items for my "empty closet.." and to satisfy my shopping addiction.

In my last post I mentioned that I was waiting on a package from feelunique.com and of course a couple hours after I uploaded my post it arrived. Though I only ordered a few things I still wanted to share them with you. For those of you who haven't read my "About me", one of my three favorite youtubers/bloggers is Tanya Burr. I admire her, I think she is beautiful, has a great personality and I love, love, love her sense of fashion and her taste in make-up. I have learned a lot about make-up by watching her channel and it kind of started me being so interested in make-up as well. So when Tanya started her own make-up line for lip glosses and nail polish in January I, of course, had to buy some of it.

Nail polish - Mini Marshmallow
Lip gloss - Afternoon Tea
I only got one lip gloss and one nail polish because I was a little broke after shopping so much in February. As a nail polish I chose the color 'Mini Marshmallow'. It's a very nice pink, kind of almost invisible, meaning it's not obtrusive at all, and because of that you can wear it to every occasion if it's a date, school, work or a party. Mini Marshmallow is exactly the kind of nail polish I was looking for and when Tanya's line first came out on feelunique.com it was obvious to me that I'll get this one first.

This is what Mini Marshmallow looks like
For those of you who have been reading my last few posts you will know that I am a lipstick lover. A lip stick addict. What you don't know is that I am a girl that hates lip gloss. I don't like how sticky it is and I hate it when my hair sticks on my lips. Nevertheless I decided to give Tanya's lip glosses a try after reading really good reviews online. I chose the color 'Afternoon Tea' out of the three I liked the most and I was surprised - in a good way! The lip gloss was great to put on and after a few minutes it wasn't that sticky at all anymore (also it smells delicious!). I chose Afternoon Tea for the same reasons I chose Mini Marshmallow. It's nice to have bright nail polish and -lip sticks but sometimes you're just in a mood for something nice and pretty and for that Afternoon Tea is perfect! It makes your lips look almost natural, but also glossy in a very nice way. This is definitely not the last lip gloss (or nail polish) I got from Tanya's collection!

My little feelunique haul

Together with the Tanya Burr products I ordered two make-up brushes from Real Techniques. One of my best friends is obsessed with the brushes (or make up brushes in general) and through her I first heard of them. After using them at her house and getting my own, I got to say that the Real Technique are my absolute favorite brushes ever. I now own three Real Technique brushes: the powder brush, the foundation brush and the setting brush. Of course I also own a few others brushes of different brands but I like "the british ones" best. I am pretty sure my Real Technique collection will get bigger and bigger by time. This time I ordered the powder- and foundation brush and again I am thrilled! They are so nice and handy and I love the way my make up looks after I put it on with these brushes.

Powder brush & foundation brush
I can only recommend my new items to you! If you are looking for some new nail polish or lip gloss check out Tanya Burr's line on feelunique.com and if you are in need of some new make-up brushes because your old ones just don't go nicely anymore also go to feelunique and look for the Real Technique brushes - they have a huge selection and though they're from such a good quality they are not expensive at all!

I hope you liked my post and you're already excited for my next post! Some of my best friends from the states asked me to post about one or two things.. so stay tuned!
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to send me an e-mail to germerican-lj.gmx.de or comment below. Also I check out my twitter account germerican_lj to stay updated about everything blog related.

February Haul

Hi guys!

so February has been a pretty successful month of shopping for me and I decided to share my captures with you. I waited for my feelunique order to arrive, because I really wanted to included the stuff I got there in this post, but sadly it still hasn't arrived yet - guess I will just show it to you in another post.
The weather hasn't been good the past couple of weeks, but when I woke up this morning the sun was shining! So I got ready before school, grabbed my new stuff, my camera and sister (as my photograph) and went outside to shoot some pictures. I know, a front porch isn't exactly a beautiful location to shoot, but it worked for me this morning.

Kurt Geiger Heels & Flats

My mom, sister and I all ordered shoes from Kurt Geiger this month and the three above are the ones I chose. I needed some comfortable heels for a banquet and a weeding anyhow, so finding those was perfect timing. Also, I couldn't resist buying these cute flats - I can't wait to wear them this summer. For those of you who haven't heard from Kurt Geiger yet: he's a british shoe designer and he is AMAZING. His shoes are so comfortable and really good quality. They are worth every cent they cost.

Rimmel Lipsticks in 036 Kiss & 070 Airy Fairy
As you could probably already tell from my first actually blog post I have a little lipstick addiction. When my friends and I went for lunch yesterday I couldn't resist but stop by at the Rimmel section next door. I have a lot of red and dark lipsticks so when I found these two I just had to buy them. They're really shiny and perfect to wear everyday. They cost around 4,99$.

Bad Hair Day Beanie from Amazon - 7,99€/ 11$

My sister and I found this cute beanie from eBay a couple weeks ago and thought the "Bad Hair Day" quote was so funny - we just had to buy it.

Dress ASOS 21€ / 28$ - Shoes Kurt Geiger - Bag H&M - Necklace Tiffany & Co.
I already ordered this dress in January after I saw it on one of my favorite bloggers Niomi Smart (ladysmart.co.uk) and "fell in love with it". When I went to check it out in ASOS it was on sale and I just had to buy it. I really like the dress because it is chic and kind of sporty at the same time, meaning you could combine it with heels like I did in the pictures above and wear it on a night out or just combine it with a pair of converse and wear at during the day or at the beach.

Overall ASOS 49€ / 67$ - Shoes Kurt Geiger - Purse Tommy Hilfiger - Necklace Tiffany & Co.
My cousins wedding is coming up so I ordered this short overall on ASOS for me to have a bigger selective on what to wear. The overall is so cute and pretty! I like how it is made of a good, but thin material which is good, because it won't get to warm in it when I wear it and it's hot outside. Also what I really like is simply the fact that it looks like a dress. I combined it with my new Tommy Hilfiger bag and some Kurt Geiger heels.

Tommy Hilfiger bag 60€ / 82$

Ralph Lauren blouse & long-sleeve shirt
On Saturday my boyfriend and I went on a little road trip to a Outlet center a couple hours away from where we live. I didn't spend that much money, because I need to start saving up some money for my summer vacations and trips to Scotland when one of my best friends moves there from the USA. Still, there was no way I could walk out of there without buying anything. I bought something at the Calvin Klein underwear store, this Tommy Hilfiger bag (which is a make-up bag but you could also use it as a clutch) and a blouse & long-sleeve shirt from Ralph Lauren. It was a really nice day and my boyfriend and I enjoyed it a lot! We had a lot of fun wandering through the stores.

Blouse Ralph Lauren - Jeans Dr. Denim - Shoes Vans - Bag Louis Vuitton

Shirt Ralph Lauren - Jeans Dr. Denim - Shoes Dr. Martin - Bag Mulberry

I hope you enjoyed seeing my new stuff and maybe got some outfit inspirations of it. Let me know if you would like to see more fashion or make-up hauls in the future.
